What's happening at Appalachian Power

West Virginia 2008 Rate Filing - The Public Service Commission (PSC) of West Virginia issued an order June 26 approving a settlement agreement to raise electric rates for Appalachian Power and Wheeling Power customers 11.35 percent, effective July 1. The monthly bill for a residential customer using 1,000 kilowatt-hours a month will rise $7.73, from $64.55 to $72.28.

Appalachian encourages customers to have an emergency kit prepared and provides guidance on what to do if a power outage occurs.

Sunscape Project - Appalachian Power is proposing construction of approximately two miles of a new 138 kilovolt (kV) electric transmission line and a new electric substation to meet growing demands for electricity in parts of the City of Roanoke and Roanoke County. The company is asking for public input into the siting process for the new facilities.
